When discussing our product line, two customers mentioned to me that they had a WWI gas mask bag that they felt was the ultimate go-bag. The inside pockets designed to carry filter canisters were perfect for their tackle boxes and it was a small bag easily carried. The only problem was that they were made of canvas, and were extremely difficult and costly to obtain replicas of.
I was tasked with duplicating the design with enhanced function using modern materials.
Continuing in the tradition of overbuilt gear, the bag is constructed of 1000Denier Cordura Nylon with mesh pockets on the inside front of the bag, and female Velcro lining on the inside back of the bag. All stress points are reinforced, and all hardware is ITW Nexus.
The inside of the bag provides 12 vertical inches of Velcro allowing for the attachment of pouches and accessories. The outside was enhanced with load bearing straps running the full length of the bag to distribute load stress on major seams. The lid was widened to provide full coverage and close with ITW Nexus side release buckles. The sides of the bag were made with MOLLE panels to provide external accessory attachment.
